This patient suffered from cage anxiety resulting in chewing the cage and damaging the canine teeth.  Restoration of these teeth not only provides favorable aesthetics but more importantly protects the dentinal tubules from invasion of oral bacteria and subsequent pulpitis and tooth death.  The cage confinement was eliminated to prevent further damage.  If this was not possible, metal crowns would be needed to prevent further trauma and likely eventual fracture.
